Welcome,
New home, New name, New Approach to SignAge!
When the former owner of Signman Signs decided after a brief
illness he wanted to spend more time living life and less
time running the day to day operations of a his Sign Shop,
he approached a group of his friends to buy him out. His friends
were at first not really interested in the Sign business but
were interested in helping out their friend so they ventured
into the business. It quickly became apparent that the location
that they were in was old, tired and expensive, as was the
equipment that they were using. The customers were loyal,
the staff was hard working but there needed to be a re-investment
to offer old and new customers some better options. More friends
stepped up to the plate and offered more invest-ment for more
opportunities. Thus the re-invention of the sign business
in Nanaimo began.
 |
They
set about finding a location with reasonable rent and
high visibility and they found that on McCullough Road,
which is a service road just off of the Island highway
across from the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club. The Daily
News building had an un-used warehouse with a store front
that met the rent and visibility requirements. Signage
went ahead and renovated the warehouse to bring it up
to the spec-ifications required to make it Nanaimo¹s
most efficient and professional sign shop. This was no
small feat but it was the mandate of the new owners. |
The next step was to find a new name that would capture the
essence of what they do, and would give them a new start.
"SignAge" was born, a name that
portrayed what they do in an instant, "Age"
portrays a new era in the sign business in Nanaimo. A professionally
designed logo/trademark was com-missioned and the new business
began.
The owners realized that if they were going with a new look
and image they would have to follow through with new products.
They set out to find machinery that would provide their customers
with sign options that could be limited by their own imagination.
After an exhaustive search for the right machinery at the
right price, they found what they were looking for. They purchased
a full colour 62" wide format outdoor Eco Solvent printer,
a 52" wide format vinyl cutter that would be compatible
with the printer, new computer and software technology to
run the machinery. SignAge quickly found
itself becoming the leading edge sign company on Vancouver
Island and now offers sign solutions that truly are beyond
imagination.
